Here the new version is online

1.59:

1. you can save now the multisample state, necessary
for laptop grafic cards when starting from pocxxl. usa NON for check
if there are problems when starting (device setting - then select non.., - then save ini
after return). The value is saved in the registry.

2. now the water current is synchronized with the wind direction, also the wave height
is increased (rnd) for reefs etc. and a little bit in the harbours.

3. inner of hovercraft changed to be more like the real one (just the steering wheel...),

4. hovercraft starts now correctly in the training harbour

5. some bug fixes in the training harbour (night) also pause function (ALT-P) shows feedback.

new features 1.58:

1. new ship Finlandia a ferry/liner

2. new weather model, now rain, snow, fog is implemnented.
For changing the weather press ATL-W in the simulator menue

3. The sun position for real harbours is adjusted automatically (when seting in the admin is to realtime). CUrretnly the local tiem of teh PC is used as UMT time (if you live in Australia for example, the time setting is not yet working correctly, use fixed time instead).
you can change the sun position to any value using DEL, INS and PGUP and PGDOWN keys.

the weather is set according to the typical values at the location plus some randomness,

currently the date in pocxxl is not used, but this will also be updated soon. The weather also depends on the season (and north or south hemisphere).

4. some buxfixes done in Lisbon, and Mumbai

5. A new feature in preview is the new TREE model -- go to the training harbour (the one with the bridge), there are some trees for test purpose placed. If you get close, you will see the leaves are moviong with the wind.

6. new water model, you will also see some of the new features in the water system. The reflexion etc. has been enhanced.

7. also new several updates of the bridge view for the ships,
new: ecranoplan, submarine, hovercraft - to see the bridge view press NUMERIC 5 (numlock active) or use the combobox pulldown menue.

we had to change all to be waetherprooff (e.g. snow or rain should be kept ourside).
When diving with the submarine the water will be visible shortly in the inside .- this is a known problem, we might find a solution later.

As a continuation of what I posted in the 1.58 topic:
Quote:
5.7 fps with 3dmultisample none and 5.3 fps with 3dmultisample 4 samples. Both with the big container ship berthing in Antwerp. Both with no fog and rain.
With fog and rain with 3dmultisample 4 samples I've gfot about 4.7 fps.
.
The same tests for 1.59. Docking in Antwerp:
without fog and rain:
- 3dmultisample 4: 5,23 fps
- 3dmultisamplenone: 5,75 fps.
with rain:
- 3d multisample 4: 4,74 fps.
(remember that I only have an ASUS9550 with 256 MB. (PC = pentium 4 2,4 GHZ with 768 MB))
So no difference for me there.

yes thats quite ok for a 9550,
the card is comparable to a 5500 (about 4 years ago), so its not fast enough to handle the pixel shader instructions we use.

The absolute minimum is a nvidia 5800 or equivalent.

for the
9550 has a transfer rate of 6.4 GB/s with 4 pixel/clock
the
X600 (which is also old ): 9.6 GB/s 4 pixel/slock

X800: 22.4 GB/s 12 pixel/clock

X850 34.5 GB/se 12 pixel/clock

X1050 is the first with 9.0c support !!! before only 9.0 (we use 9.0c)

x1950 64 GB/sec 48 pixel/clock (here we have about 40-60 fps)

HD 3870 57.8 GB/sec 320 pixel (unified)

the table is at http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/131

I am not sure if this is valid, there are better tables in the internet but maybe a start.
