Hi All,

So has anything come out of this? Will something be done about this?
Also, I remember read a Time magazine, that was from last year, that hte polar ice has melted to much now, that it will most likely now be open nearly year round. that way, ships needing to go to N.Y. from Tokyo will be going over Canada, and wont have the restrictions of the Panama canal, nor the cape horn issues, or going to the west coast and unloading to ports there. Also Tokyo to London, over the north of Siberia etc will be possible.

Unfortunately, I can not find the issue any more at my doctors practice. It was a special issue I think. Around September - November 2007, somewhere between those months. It also went on to say about the petrol/ gas deposits etc were being investigated.

It also had a map of the routes.

So since this is becoming reality, and some small island nations are going to flood/ go underwater... maybe the game will need a new map too?

On the other hand, there shoud be soime mor different maps for the minigames like "We air inside a riff" " We are sorounded be IceMointains" (Schreibt man das so? Smile ) If you made the northern passage is think you will have to do this "minigame" realy often andallways the same map will be very boring.

Maybe it will be possible to to implement a "shuffle" that will arange some tiles in a randow order. with an starting area, a target area and the suffle parts within.

in addition to the subject ICE, some ships have Iceclass (they are suitable to navigate withing ice) but still most vessels haven't (also in POC XXL) Maybe some suggestion for the POC xxl game, in winterseason when in arctic or antarctic waters or ports like Point Hope, Helsinki, St Petersburg and future ports like Pori, Kotka and Kemi in Finland, possible Murmansk or Archangelsk, that in the wintermonths you have to rent a icebreaker to get to the port.
Is that possible?
Port of Pori (Mantyluoto): paper, timber and import of ore
Kemi: containers, timber and lots of paper reels
Kotka: containers, ro-ro, timber and lots of Paper (Stora Enso paperfactory)
and last but not least the Great Lake-ports like Duluth, Detroit etc...also in winterseason difficult to reach without icebreaker-assistance

greetings,

Ruud V

The seaway closes usally between December and March (official version) which varies depending on the actual weather condition. I remember anchoring for 3 weeks in May at Montreal awaiting the opening of the seaway.

In this time there is defenitly no access for seawater ships to the Great Lakes.

I removed the info from my site a long time ago, perhaps I left a dead link?

Hmm, what is about this?

I currently rework the LNG transport in PoC, and in the moment i build all existing LNG-Export Terminals in the world. One of them is the Snovit Project with its LNG Terminal located in Hammerfest, Norway.

The coordinates for Hammerfest are
Code:
<x>237</x>
<y>-707</y>

but there is no way to go there.
It semms like this is the old "above 68 degree latitude" problem.
And this problem is not correctable by editing the mask files, the limitations must be in the code.

Is there any chance to change this in near future?
It would be a pitty, if I had to abandon Europe's only existing LNG export terminal.
