Fellow POC'ers
Meetings Meetings business meetings I mean, they are all I manage at the moment, it will be refreshing to look forward to a POC treff in the warmer months of this year I just hope that it will not be during a busy period for me

That you don't (can't) come to the conference, i can understand, but you say "I cannot even get a license that works..." did you at least explain the problem? it happens sometimes that there is a problem with a license, but the POC team is always ready to help in those cases....

I have to second Shouris post on the errors. Secondly, in the phorum "XXL Bugreports" there is a thread called "License problems".
Remember: The more specific you are, the better can the others help you.

I think that sounds like a good idea... then we could all discuss the future of POC, that would be nice... I have lots improvements for the game, im not saying that the game is bad at the moment. just that i have some ideas that could be cool to realize. see you all somewhere in germany.

Well, debating offline about the future of PoC is quite ok but: I do not want to end up this conference as PoC LAN full stop. There are other games that are better suited for LAN parties.
The basic expierences of the Hamburg PoC meeting on March, 13th are quite simple:
- Do have a binding programme.
- It has to be clarified who is responsible for what.
- Do have a deadline, i. e. that all (possible) registrations after that are disregarded.
Also important:
- How are the people accomodated?
- How do the people get to the location?
I do not declare this list as definitive.

May be it's an idea to add something to the newest update; after updating the game and starting it for the first time a window will pop up, informing all players about the meeting.
Of course time and date have to be set by then. I think there are many players who will like the idea, but do not often visit the forum.
Next year would be a good idea I think.
Keep up the good work!
By the way; when is POC XXL planned to be finished? |
I hopee it continues to evolce with market trends and new ideas

Hi All,
Is this topic gone "Death"
I think a PoC meeting would be a great idea, what ever the gathering might involve, just to meet people you chat, mail with face to face.
Exchance ideas, have fun together
And Rotterdam would be fine, at least for me.
It's a huge city with an even bigger harbour, so isn't that what PoC is all about.
Beside that Rotterdam has a "way back" maritime history.

I am not sure. As I already have mentionend:
My most important questions are:
- What do you want to discuss? Is this already done around here? Or shall this be PoC DevCon I? If this was really the reason to start a thread about a PoC conference, it would be very difficult to get paying participants.
Secondly, I do not want this event end up as a PoC LAN. There are games that suits better.
I do mind against meeting the guys behind the nicknames around here and getting a city to know. This is definitly not the point.

As for the location, Rotterdam would be fine by me thanks to Basiq Air. As for topics for the conference, I think this should be set before asking people to pay for coming. The World Port days wouold be an excellent time to hold a POC meeting, but as RDK and others quickly found out I believe it would be difficult to get hotelrooms anywhere near the actual meetingplace which makes it rather pointless.
Furthermore, I Don´t really believe in the idea of a LAN gathering with people playing POC for three days, You can do that at home! Let´s try to focus on development of the game and see how the reality of shipping works.
My suggestion would be:
Topics:
Strategy and development of POC (Possibly with release of POC XXL 1.0)
Speaches related to POC world by Pilots, captains and shipping company representatives.
Visit the maritime museum (possibly hold the conference there?)
Dates:
Doesn´t really matter as long as it is on a weekend as I believe it will be easier to attract participants on a weekend rather than during the week.
Location:
Rotterdam/Amsterdam as this is fairly central, it can be reached by train, car or air from most of Europe and North America. |

Port of Rotterdam seems to be a very good site, however Amsterdam will be easier for almost all flying visitors. As KLM and their Flying Dutchman Partners uses Schiphol as their European hub.

Yep, I have been here a long time and as far as I know there is only been one German meeting in Hamburg. 2nd one never took place there. Some Dutch POC players planned a meting a while ago put it had to be postponed twice. It’s now planned early November and will take place in the port of Rotterdam.
Maybe we could hold an international meting there one day and it would be an excellent location. I have lived there over two years, but recently left the place to go and live in my berth town. The Port of Rotterdam has lots of thing to offer, being the largest European port with a very long history and many harbours.
Maybe will all meet in Rotterdam someday?
Cheers for now, Novex |

I'd really prefer Amsterdam as meeting-point. Please let's do a big LAN-Party there every summer !
LAN'ing POC is just great ! |
