Today I had the chance to work on the map a little more.
Currently the whole map is finished and all berthing places are on the map.
In green: Container berths, and some roro-berths (below-left). also a coal berth (top right). In yellow: liquids (tanks) berths and in magenta General Cargo berths.
The green berths on the bottom of the picture is actually an old general cargo berth, currently in use for gen. cargo and for containers. the berths in the middle on the right (just above the massive magenta area) are berths only used for steel.
I still need to draw some lines for the bridges and some for the extensive rail-tracks in the harbour. Further waiting for the file RDK still needs to upload.
This weekend I'm gonna check all berthing spots (as I'm not sure for all of them), also do some ship spotting and sitting (and bear drinking) on the waterside.

Here's the latest version. Color coding is the same as above. New are the white stripes, which indicate bridges (even one which is always opened). Also corrected some berthing spots.
Now waiting for RDK...

Thanks.
Well, it took some time. First finding a good map of the port, and info about measurements of the items in it, to set the map in the right scale. Then using a vector-based drawing program to draw the map.
It took me about 25 hours (this really is a guess). Now I have to adjust it a little, and simplify it, so it can be used in the game.

BTW, this drawing will (maybe) be used for the 2d-sim. That's why it should have the right measurements. Also I can't implement it in the game myself, this should be done by RDK.
If you want to make maps which are used for show in the different windows, that's a lot easier. You can also download a number of them on Bearsie's website. Cool

I've downloaded the *.pdf and the norm.dxf file. Also the norm.ai, but opening this in PhotoShop (as I can't open it with anything else) gives a very bad result. Reading the dxf is no problem at all.
Now trying to understand it, which is a little harder. Smile
Can you handle my file, are do you really need it on the colors from your pdf ?

Maybe you can deliver a print screen of the *.ply-output of the example? This would make it a little easier to understand.

For those who want to be kept informed. RDK and I are currently working on the Port of Antwerp for the 2D game. The biggest struggle was to convert an Autocad-drawing into a CorelDraw one. This succeeded.
I'm now doing a quick course PoC-harbour drawing Laughing before I finish the harbour.
