In PoC XXL, I use the 2D harbours. And I like they way they are now. Except that you have to sail to the most strange places to berth.
To get a more Arcade-feeling, it would be nice to move the start- (when berthing) and endpoint (when sailing out the harbour) closer to the harbour entrance though.
I use Sim3D only as a stand-alone game, never in combination with PoC XXL.

I think the 2D sim is generally okay as is, but it needs a) time compression to allow faster movement across the screen at lower ship speeds (you don't enter ports at 25+ kts!) and b) a pause function for the game, when I need to get away from the computer in a hurry.

Cheers
Olle

I prefer the 3dsim v1, becasuse its simpler to use than the v2. V2 is too graphic heavy too, I think.

I really miss more ships and so on v1 instead.

Question I think you forgot an option ... for people who don't use any docking sim at all, which is my case.

Regards,

Nerby

I like the new harbours, if your going to dock by hand might as well look better.

I do sometimes turn off the sim though, just depends on if I feel like it, I would use it more often if I could turn off the reefs/icebergs/shallows.......

That can be done, but it means stepping tru 99 + harbors in the xml files
a simple toggle would be nice...
Mostly I don't use the sim, too busy doing "strategic thinking" Wink
2D is all I have, and all my puter can handle.

I normally run the game in sim-mode, but let the tugs take my ships in and out of port whenever possible, unless I feel like steering myself for a cha(lle)nge.
