Here the new version is online
(attention exe shows 1.57 which is ok)

new features:

1. new ship Finlandia a ferry/liner

2. new weather model, now rain, snow, fog is implemnented.
For changing the weather press ATL-W in the simulator menue

3. The sun position for real harbours is adjusted automatically (when seting in the admin is to realtime). CUrretnly the local tiem of teh PC is used as UMT time (if you live in Australia for example, the time setting is not yet working correctly, use fixed time instead).
you can change the sun position to any value using DEL, INS and PGUP and PGDOWN keys.

the weather is set according to the typical values at the location plus some randomness,

currently the date in pocxxl is not used, but this will also be updated soon. The weather also depends on the season (and north or south hemisphere).

4. some buxfixes done in Lisbon, and Mumbai

5. A new feature in preview is the new TREE model -- go to the training harbour (the one with the bridge), there are some trees for test purpose placed. If you get close, you will see the leaves are moviong with the wind.

6. new water model, you will also see some of the new features in the water system. The reflexion etc. has been enhanced.

7. also new several updates of the bridge view for the ships,
new: ecranoplan, submarine, hovercraft - to see the bridge view press NUMERIC 5 (numlock active) or use the combobox pulldown menue.

we had to change all to be waetherprooff (e.g. snow or rain should be kept ourside).
When diving with the submarine the water will be visible shortly in the inside .- this is a known problem, we might find a solution later.

http://www.rdklein.de/pocsim3dII/install_std_POCSim3DII_Runtime.EXE runtime package for the above Wise-downloadmanager 1.00 (2MB )

Toll,

Looks very nice.
But i think the spray of the ships looks here not so natural as in the old version.

the spray is next on our todo list (remove it and change), will become a dynamic model in one of the next updates.

--

small bugs: 1. at night the mountains are illuminated (I always forget to define the alpha channel which is our lightmap),2. the hovercraft has a wrong height when starting (At waterlevel instead of the upper level).
update will quickly come.

we also improve the trees (shadows and moveing trunks )

Sorry,
but i can't explain this in english.

Musste die "Alte" Version wieder aktivieren. (leider)

i found something to correct (i already mentioned before):
the stars are still below the clouds at night.
that shouldnt be this way! maybe there's a chance to correct this.

I will have a look - I think the stars are overlayed by the clouds at the moment (depends on the cloud layer -- ALT-W). I will add a fade off to the stars that might help. or increase the dense of the clouds -- the stars currently use a HRI algorithm to be very bright ! .

on the 1.55 the new 1.58 needs more memory,

The new graphics are fantastic! I noticed another small problem, not sure if it effects all the ships but the snow appeared to fall inside the bridge of the tug.

which ship is this ?

currently only the pocsim3dii ships are updated,
if you have copied a poc2008 deluxe ship its not yet prepared for the rain (you have to wait for the updateof poc 2008 deluxe which we also have ready).
All ships tere in the addon are not rain prepared in the old version 1.24 / 1.26

does ist help to switch off the multisampling (use admin menue and device settings) ?
Currently its not saved.

Not only memory might be a problem for the new effects like rain fog we also need a little bit more shader code.

Next I will do some benchmarking to try to optimize this.

I also did some tests,

for sydney, gythion and test trainging harbour, all is below 64 MB of texture ram,
but the number of polygons:
for training its up to 1.6 million, sydney has a max of 1.4 mio and gythion of about 0.9mio polygons. With older GPUs that might be a speed problem, but the multisampler off can help (please test and report).
The lowest polycount is on the labryrinth scene with about 0.3 mio (only the water, sky etc. and some polys from he ship and structure).
