I am glad it isnt' a real ship yard. since my first attempts didnt satisfy me, I scrapped the ships and started over Laughing

The new ship images are as good as any in the game.
Although I am sure the way I do it is the long way around...
Now I have the Dutch Coaster Groningen 900 tdw.
The German coasters: Egerland 500 tdw, Anneliese 1200 tdw. Bari 2000 tdw,
Today I added the first Tug / Icebreaker, the german build "Oceanic"
At first her draft was a bit deep she was plowing through the game with just the bridge above the waves, but a few key strokes fixed that.
Idea

Particulars: Daten der "Oceanic"
Length: Länge 87,60m
Breadth: Breite 14,30m
Draft : Tiefgang 6,31m
Height of Hullt : Seitenhöhe 7,30m
Date built: Baudatum 6. Juni 1969
Shipyard : Bauwerft F. Schichau GmbH, Bremerhaven
Yard number : Baunummer 1744
Gross Tonnage : Vermessung 2294 BRT
Main Engines: Maschinen: 2x Deutz-Diesel "SBV 12 M 640"
Performance: Leistung 13200 PSe (HP)
Speed : Geschwindigkeit 20,5 knoten (knots)
Bunkers : Bunkervermögen 1400 tonnes
Range : Reichweite 20 000 seamiles
Bollard Pull : Pfahlzug 179 Tonnes
Crew : Besatzung 24 Mann

More about her at: http://www.seatowage.de/oceanic/

It is in german but it does a funky translation into english if entered through a google search: Schlepper+Oceanic

And for comparison a modern Short Sea Trader (coaster) MS Dollart , Built 1996 by Slovenske Lodenice. GT 2532, tdw 3560
Length: 87,92 m - Breadth: 12,8 - D 5,52
Main Engine: MaK 8 M 332 C, 1960HP - 1470 kw /825rpm.
Speed: 12 ktn.

As you can see it does show quite a difference, on almost the same hull size the Dollart has only about 10 % of the Horse power while carrying
3500 tons at a reasonable speed of 12 knots ....
Of course, speed is not only a function of horse power but also of length .
But it also shows that for freighters my rule of thumb given in my earlier post hold true.

Eitherway I am having fun and I like the research too Very Happy

Added the coaster "Audacity" 1300 tdw to the game, in full E.T. Everard colors of course. Very Happy

Followed by the complete rebuild of an old Danish Logger (Trawler) from 1932 into the Baltic Freighter Abenraa of 250 tdw, had to raise the horsepower to 700 to make the computer happy...
Now she should be able to pass the QE 2, at least in Ballast and going down wind . Laughing

Oceanic is making a living hauling passengers, the info on the Tug revealed that she has a crew of 24 and 60 emergency berths, so I "fired" 10 crew and declared her fit for 70 passngers, that should pay for the fuel anyways. Wink

Tally: Rebuild: 5, new build: 5, scrapped on the slip: 3 Rolling Eyes

Having fun and the "yard" is busy ..... Cool

Due to arguments between me and the computer over fuel consumption on small ships Exclamation
The Åbenrå has been lengthened and deepened to carry 750 tons and got a bigger engine too Laughing
New name is "Rønne" and she is avalaible at a very reasonable price ... 1 good used Laks and 1 bottle of Akvavit Wink

Built Norwegian Offshore Supply Vessel "Ekne" and added her to my fleet.
It is a sort of a morphed design based on a few Offshore Vessels I had particulars for.
Ekne is a Village in the Trondhjems Fjorden, in case anyone wondered ...

The royal shipyard of "Bearovia" of which I am the undisputed , fearless and self appointed leader Rolling Eyes has successfully launched Vessel number 71 into the cold waves of the Baltic Sea Very Happy
Tonnages range from 150 tdw to 34 000 tdw.

Mostly semi-antique coasters from the 30's through the 70's but also note worthy vessels like the : Cap San Marco, Otto Hahn, Lichtenfels, a few tugboats, a 3 masted sailing bark of 3240 tdw (Seute Deern ex Rickmer Rickmers of 1898),
Icebreakers, and even a few modern vessels including (perish the thought...) a container ship !
Almost forgot: Binnenvaart! a Luxemotor, a Kempenaar and a Elbmotor have joined the fleet and a Spits is on the slip as we speak.
Not that too many foolhardy souls would be willing to haul freight to Iceland on a Luxemotor Laughing
reminder: modern with me is anything past 1980 :wink

Many Thanks to all the Fellow Gamers that helped me along the way !!!
Especially Robin Hood 1984.

May there always be water under your keel Cool

I think it would fantastic if we would be able to build our own ships... Some one wrote that it was´nt the purpose of the game, and I can only shout out loud ! What ?? As a company owner youy must be willing to take the risk to build new ships, and collect offers from shipyards according to new building programs... So just get back to work, because this feature would be an great great great improvement to this in it self great game...

Of course. Laughing
Btw, the harbor of Esbjerg is in my game as is the MS Esbjerg, a freighter of 4000 tdw, the MS Rønne of 370 tdw ( a converted trawler) and the Nella Dan of course Wink

I am looking for a good side picture or drawing of a baltic trader / schooner... Seems the Danes were the last ones to keep those going, so it will be under the Danish flag once I build it, of course Cool

Do you already make ships for the game ?? Some of you guys talk about some ship types, but i don´t understand if you have implemented them in the game or not....
But if you are building ship already, how do you do, and how to do ?

best regards

Yes, of the 71 ships I made most are in the Game, a few got "scrapped" and a few are too large to fit into my "Coaster Game" and are only used in other games.

- Make your own drawing in the right format *.png and with the correct scale, 1 pixel - 0,91meters. Don't forget to make the black and white drawing otherwise the animation doesn't work.

- Make a xml / txt file with all ship parameters, see ship0.xml

- After this implement the drawings and xml data in the game as shown in the first post of this topic: OOCL Shenzhen topic

Cheers, Novex

Hi.

Great thanks for the info.... Could be I should make some of my own ship, some time in the future...

But i was thinking maybe, RdK could spare some space on the site, so all the people who have made some new ships could upload them, so everybody could benefit from them... Just som thougths though

Best Rgds

Yes you do.
color would be : shipname.png the other (black and white outline would be : shipname_m.png

both have to go into the newship file
then you need a txt.file that goes into the ship.xml file or rather is added to it. that file has to be indexed and the name for the line: bildinfo has to be axctly the same as the name of the png file or there will be no picture...

And the latest news from the Royal Bearovian shipyards:
After completing a series of sail freighters, including a Kraweel of 400 tdw from 1450 and a dutch Flute of 800 tdw from 1750, the Soviet flagged Hydrofoil freighter "Kometa" of 2000 tdw and a max speed of 72 knots has just left the yard, a passenger and container version is on the stocks Wink

Happy Easter to all Very Happy
