AFAIK no ships at all are at 100% when delivered (unless, possibly, you set maintenance at maximum when you buy the ship, and keep it there)!

IMO all new ships should be delivered in mint condition ...

I think the total income is pretty irrelevant.
Income per ton or even net profit per ton and day seem more relevant.

With maintenance set to Excelent, The maintenance costs per day are of such a big influence, you want to go as fast as posible.The daily maintenance cost is highly dependant on the ship's condition.
