I am 38 years old, a male, and from Southern New Jersey in the USA. I was happy to find both the classic version and the "new and improved" version of PoC . . . I went straight for the Platinum without missing a heartbeat. Oh, I am an Insurance Analyst.
Originally, my father introduced the game to me during my early 20's back around 1986 -- on one of the first Amiga personal computers. I loved it! Even today, the classic game has some staying power in terms of entertainment, I played it for four hours last night.
The new game with the 3D simulation looks promising, but I am only beginning to "get my sea legs," if you know what I mean. Nice to meet everyone. _________________ Love your pets, just don't LOVE your pets. |

Hi,
time to update my record; its been a long time since the last news. I`ll be turning 27 on Sunday (05.09.04, presents always welcome). At the same time, I`ll leave Germany and start my internship (part of my port management studies) in The Hague, Netherlands. Quite glad, as my last internship lasted 4 weeks due to "mutual discomfort". So The Hague is where I`ll be staying, if any of you Dutch guys wants to meet up for a cold one or ten...
Cheers, Hotte |

See i'm app. two years late with this reply, however here goes... I'm a 22 years old male from Denmark. First discovered POC back in the old Amiga days and have been playing it with intervals ever since. Was happy to see that new versions were being developed and enjoy the new POC XXL.
Employed in the shipping business (for more than 2 years) by a big danish carrier, working in the linertrade on a overseas trade. |

Hi,
I'm Marius van Herpen, 30 years male from The Hague. A long long time ago, in galaxy far away.. euh wait I mean when I was a 17 year old or so, someone gave me a diskette with a nice little game on it. My brother and I loved playing it very much, but somehow lost track of it.
Untill February this year I was talking to a collegue of mine, who stated that the game still existed and was even enhanced. Good old times coming back since then!
In my daily occupation I work as a System engineer/developer for one of the biggest containerbargeoperators on the Rhine. So I somehow ended up with boats after all.

Hi all PoC players.
I'm a 33 year old male from Norway.
Have been playing PoC since it was available on Amiga.
I was one of those who thought that it was for 'free'.
but now i know that it was wrong.
I now have a platinium lisence now. ( But it doesn't show that in the forum......hmm..)
I work as an 1st Engineer on a cruise ship in carribean.
(exciting job i can tell you)
so you can say that I have this game in my blod !!!
Dealing with ships both during work and vacation. Great!!!
my family has a long line of sailors. It's a tradition I think.
else I'm a Hi-Fi entusiast. ( B&W and Denon) and comic book collector.
well take care.
Lets play PoC forever.

Hey all,
Ok about me! I am a 33 year old Canadian living in Toronto. I too have played POC since the Amiga days and I am a gold licence holder and happy to be one. Personally I am really looking forward to playing against the computer rather then being all the ship owners at once.
I currently work in distribution (trucks, not ship's ) but it's close
at least, I am married to my high school sweetheart and would love to have atleast 5 kids (but she won't let me!!)

Hi
My name is Hċvard.
I'm 22 years old, and I live in Aalesund, Norway.
Aalesund is one of the most maritime cities in Norway,
and I have been at sea myself a couple of times.
The reason I bought my platinum license, is because I
used to play the PoC classic against my friend many years ago.
I want to see a PoC XXL version rise from the depths of the computer seas,
so I bought a platinum license to help fund the game financially = _________________ !!!!Brown cheese is dangerously good!!!!! |

Pretty good mix of people. From all around the world and all....
Me, a 23 year old student (turned 23 this monday) from Sweden. I study purchasing- supply chain management with logistics!
what could be a better game than POC?
Played some POC on amiga, and now the greatly improved version on PC.
all I can say that this game is great and it made me realize that I need to study even harder on my logistics |

Hi! I am a student of business administration and engineering and nearly finished. I live in Bremen in northern Germany and came across POC on my old 386 DX 40 MHZ PC, not on an Amiga! Well, the new version looks pretty smart I think. Best regards,
Dan. _________________ http://www.sartori-berger.de

Hi all,
Well, I am a 40 year old male from Holland. As most of us played PoC in the DOS version in my younger days and even till last year.
Discovered the new stuff a while back and got myself a Platinum licence in January, basically because I forgot about the game whenever I was on leave from my job in Nigeria.
Presently i am Operations Manager with Groupe Bourbon from France and I run a fleet of PSV's and AHTS's for the Nigerian deepwater oil industry.
I was a Captain on a dynamic positioned AHTS vessel in Nigeria for about 5 years before picking up the shore based job.
Only one problem with the XXL, it's addicitve as hell. An old school friend of mine from the Marine Academy who is also working here saw the game last week for the first time on my laptop and two days later he got a Platinum licence also. We now discuss business strategies over the phone.
FYI, check my suggestion about the PoC meeting.
A prosperous business to ya all and happy sailing. |

... and I am an 39 yr old marine engineer from Varberg (a town located by swedish west-coast, abt 85 km south of Gothenburg).
I went to sea as a 'wiper' in 1990, and in the year of 2000 I decided to leave the sea-going life for good. I carried the rank of 1st engineer but got the chief engineer certificate just before I left this career. Today I am married and working as a planning engineer at a nuclear powerplant.
At my time at sea I served on several types of ships, ships like for instance: Ferries (Stena Line), Ro/Ro (Tor Line), Si/Lo (Gorthon Line), Reefer's (Cool Carrier & Swedish Orient Line) and finally Lo/Lo (Atlantic Container Line). These ships took me mainly to North & South America, Africa, Holland, Canada, Norway, Denmark, Japan, the carribians.
My time at sea was excellent, but things in life changes (values in life etc) so I thought eventuelly that I had done my part at sea. Today, a few years later, I watch back at those years with a smile ...
Curiosities: My cousins first & second name name is *exactly* the same as mine (and he is also a marine engineer) - Oboy-oboy |
