There is a bug with combined container / RoRo ships!

If you load the ship with containers first you can´t load any trailers. PoC says the ship is fully loaded and there are no space for trailers.
If you load the trailers first, than it works, you can load containers too.

That´s a bit strange Confused

---------------------------------

You don't think the containers get in the way of the trailers if you load them first? Wink

Sure!

This happens with your original Con/Ro ship Finnseal as well as with my and StickyMonks custom combined Container / RoRo ships.

Your Finseal can load 392 containers, 89 trailer and 86 cars.
If you load a container freight first, you are not able to load trailers or cars any longer. A message appears that tells you the ship is fully loaded.
But if you first load the ship with trailers and/or cars you can load the full number of containers too.

Try it out! The Finseal can be bought from 1991 on!

This looks like an unsupported feature ?!?

As I can see its not a bug as ships cannot have container and vehicles/trailers at the same time in my original files I think (????).

but seems to to work consistent.

The Finnseal is one of your original ships!

A bit odd... but explained easy enough.
The computer counts containers and you can load either to tonnage capacity (less containers than max) or to max container number.
At that point the computer assumes that the ship is "full".
Hence the phenomena that you can load cars and then containers and not the other way around...
At least that is what it looks like.

- Ups you are right - yes its a car carrier also with containers - now called Bore Nordia -

but the counting is not wrong I think, as the ship has a max loading, each container assumes a default load depending on the freight type, when the maximum load of the ship is used, nothing fits on the ship, eg no vehicles.
when you start loading the vehicles, they also have a weight. But when you load containers afgter this you might not load that much anymore (depends on the type of freight - some are not that heavy and you can fill up with out that order dependance).

I have to check if there is a bug in the counting, of course if max number of containers is reached no container can be loaded,
if its a bug that check might reject also the trailers assumed the max weight is not reached -- but I have to look deeper into the code to find out.
If you have a saved game, please send it to poc@rdklein.de subject=roro
then its easier for me to see if there is a special case ...
The game shoudl eb just before loading in the right harbour.

I have send you a savegame with the Finnseal in Tokyo.
There are lots of RoRo an Container freights available so you can check out the problem.
