we are not allowed to display ANY MAERSK ships in the game - please remove them !

This is really very important we might a high fine to pay if not followed.

which shipping companies are allowed to display??
i think a list of "allowed" trademarks would be helpful for the
"shipyard masters" in the forum.

@RDK: Sorry to say, but I think the only way you can be sure that there will be no Maersk ships in the game is to convert the xml-files into something a user can't edit.
You can't prevent anyone from making and adding Maersk ships (or any other existing ship for that matter).

Currently we have permissions from:
Cunard and Aida, and BBC Chartering.

long time ago we got a request from APL to use their ships, but we didnt follow up this at that time., so its pending.

explict FORBIDDEN are: MAERSK; AIDA and ERNST RUSS ships, after we had requested them - You need to be special careful as we are watched !!!
MEARSK has a general forbid for all computer games and I know an other company which got a general forbid to use anything from them (not even container are allowed !)

---
general I think most shipnames are no trademarks, and dont contain trademarked brand names. That is not that critical we hope, especially for older ships.

I dont have a problem if someone else adds ships, but he might get the problems if a trademark is used.

Also the images might be critical if there is a readable trademark on them without having permission to use.

Also images from harbours, can only be used with explizit permission even if you find them on a homepage -
so please be very careful.

-
also I saw google earth maps used, be aware to do this you also need at least the google pro license (I have one) and there still restrictions (I only use the map for reference not for the images ).

Gruss
Matthias

I´m a bit confused because there is at least one Maersk ship in the original Game! Its <index>1</index> Sally Maersk. And what about all the P&O Nedlloyd ships in the game (Tasman, Colombo Bay, etc.) P&O Nedlloyd is owned by Maersk.

Well, it is abvious that they can deny commercial use of their ships by a game developer, what they; nor anyone else; can not do is tell individuals not to take a picture of their vessel and not use it as wall paper in their living room....

Ups - I will change the names, I think I did not use the name in the ship image. Sally might be a problem which I change, the others dont contain any trademarks so I dont see a problem, as long as their name does not display.

The whole thing come up with the latest discussions we had on ships in a game- so we need to be careful - most discussions were on the 3d models , so I think the 2d images (when no trademark is displayed in the ship image) is not that critical.

I will also trigger a professional checkup for the whole problem.
