Zootier, a question about your redrawn models:
What's the best way to implement these in the new PoC system? The images can be overwritten I think but what's best to change/overwrite the xml files?

Ivar Lauritzen has 185 reefer plugs, but that couldn´t be all for a ship of these size. Maybe I´m wrong but i think this is for the deckload only, and they have normal refrigeratet freightrooms too, so i have decided to use the dwt and not the TEU´s.

If you look for the specs of these type of ships you mostly find Cbft or Sqm given and not TEU.

I have done the same with Chiquita Schweiz and Sevillan Reefer, they are both able to carry containers, but i have used them as cargo ship!
Only my Dole Chile is definatly a pure fully refrigeratet containership, all 2046 TEU places have reefer plugs.

The next update is online.

Again five new ships today!

Four new Containerships,
OOCL Montreal (4.404 TEU, 1.311 Reefer, build 2003)
Knud Maersk (6.418 TEU, build 1996)
MSC Beijing (8.089 TEU, build 2005)
OOCL Freedom (3.161 TEU, build 1985)

and the car carrier
Trans Future 3 (1.923 cars, build 2001).

Than i have redrawn the lower hull of a lot of my older Containerships and Car Carriers. I have tried to make the real Number of propellers visible.

During the conversion work i have done a mistake using older xml files for several ships. As a result of this the waterline of a lot of ships was wrong and i have inserted other smaler bugs. I have corrected these bugs now. The following ships were affected:

Esso Caribbean
Canmar Endurance
Canmar Bravery
Ever Goods
Deutschland
Fantasy
Disney Magic
CMA CGM Verlaine
Hanjin Amsterdam
Hatsu Eagle
Atlantic Conveyor
Brahman Express
Ocean Spirit
St Elmo
Griffon
Hanjin Pyeong Taek
Jilfar
Legend of the Seas
Nedlloyd Hongkong
Chief
Hero
Kapetan Hiotis
Media Star
MOL Initiative
MSC Carla
MSC Samia
Milenium Dos
Hatsu Shine

Thats all for today,

Cheers,
Zootier

thats a good point, my reefers I just guessed at a number that would fit the dwt, I may convert all mine to cargo ships rather than container ships when I get round to redrawing them.

Once again a new update is online!

I have added four new ships today!

The Panamax bulker Kapitan Zhuravlyov (76.284 dwt, build 1985) Its a OBO-Carrier so you can use it either as bulker or as tanker.

The Capesize bulker Pacific Glory (233.694 dwt, build 2004),

The Containership Hyundai Shanghai (6.763 TEU, build 2006),

and the LNG Tanker Maersk Quatar (145.000 m³, build 2006)).

And i have added Top Views for the containerships California Mercury, ZIM Hamburg and CMA CGM Balzac. Thanks to Mark (i dont know your forum nick) for doing them!

And finaly i have added Bearsies harbour Prince Rupert! I have added a few pics and cargos.

Thats it for today!

Cheers,

Zootier

I guess I should start doing some more top views!!!

one spelling mistake though, it should be Maersk Qatar Wink

Is there any reason why you list the lng/lpg tankers with m³ instead of dwt? as this means you can load a lot more cargo into these than you should be able to (maersk qatar for example has a dwt of 77803). It would be nice if RDK could change the gas loads to m³ but I guess that would mean another line in the xml code.

By the way, I like your new lower hulls with the water level markings on!

I havn´t done a lot of top views in the last time too. But nobody has ask for them all the time, so i don´t know how many people do really need them! How many players are using the 2DSim? Do you need Top Views?

I will correct the spelling mistake in a few days. I´m not at home for the next 2 or 3 days. This is a typical german bug, because in the german language an Q is almost followed by an u !

The loading capacity of an LNG Carrier is not that addicted to the Deadweight as it is with other typ of ships. They all have similar dwt, but the loading capacity differs extremly.
For example the LNG Carriers Al Jasra and Golar Mazo, both have Moss Spherical tanks, both have nearly the same loading capacity (135169 m³ and 135225 m3), and both are build in 2000. But Al Jasra has only 68200 dwt and Golar Mazo has 76210 dwt! The 1975 build LNG Carrier Hilli has 72703 dwt but only 126227 m³.
So i have decided to take the m³ instead the dwt because its more realistic!

I use Top views in the 2D sim as whilst it adds a lot of time to the game it does add an additional challenge every now and again. In fact I only use user add ons with the top views as the generic top views that you get in the basic game are not exactly true to form. The basic Bulk carrier for example just looks wrong.

I have begun creating top views for a few ships using Google earth. The biggest problem there is finding either the correct ship or one that is very similar. The older ships are almost impossible.

I do have a few top views for the old ships I made, well I have the screen shot but done nothing else with it, the best place to look (i found) was the former eastern block countries, there tends to be a lot of of old ships in groups, I assume waiting to be scrapped.
