In the User-Addon-Folder I've found two methods to name Port Pictures, i.e.:
1 - harbi000a_Aberdeen.jpg
2 - Aden_harbi0a.jpg

or for the maps
1 - map000_Aberdeen.png
2 - Aden.png

Does anybody knows what the difference is, are both notations supported or are they used perhaps to achieve different effects?

Good to know - many thanks RedEvil.
I will rename the others. Both variations were downloaded from the port builders pages, the first expression probably from an older date.

I was really peeved about the situation - 287 new ports with 1900 files in the user-addon-folder, but no map- and no harbi-picture on display, only the two substitutes ("work in progress ..." and sunrise at the captains wall). Many hours of work to convert all filenames to the new version - no results! Embarassed

But I finally got it, found the key here:
RedEvil wrote

Look in the xml for <bildinfostadtnummer>

Nobody ever used this line, it looks always like this
<bildinfostadtnummer>-</bildinfostadtnummer>, empty except for the dash.
This works properly in the original poc file town0.xml because the index-no. is used to identify map- and harbi-pics. But for the user-addon-harbours other rules apply apparently.

I changed some xml-files and replaced the dash by filename.png and - WOW - success. Very Happy

The extension .png is necessary to show the maps, without extension only the harbis will be displayed. And only ONE dot is permitted in this statement. Accidentally I picked the St._John.xml for a change, but the entry st._john.png would not do it, I had to remove the first dot from all filenames and change the xml-entry accordingly (st_john.png).

Quite some work to alter some 280 files, but I am lucky that I've found the reason why, in the past, the mass of pictures were not on display.

Is this all well known stuff or are there other procedures to connect the pictures to the xml? Wink

regards Sparky

Thanks for the link, RedEvil.
The topic was written before I discovered this forum. But it's good to learn the confirmation.

When you look in the las_palmas.xml from RDK then you will see <bildinfostadtnummer>las_palmas.png</bildinfostadtnummer>.
Therefor the map with the name las_palmas.png will be shown.
The harbi-files for this town must then named las_palmas_harbi0a.jpg.
Because of las_palmas + _harbi0a.jpg
The last "a" can be replaced by any letter of the alfabet.
For example las_palmas_harbi0q.jpg
So for now you can "connect" 26 harbi-files to each town/port

Regards,

Thank you...

was du bei <bildinfostadtnummer> eintragen musst.

das ist das gleiche so ungefähr in deutsch Cool
leicht gekürzt....

Gruß,
Christian
