I recently installed MS's newest operating system Vista. I can install POCXXL but when I go to play it I get the following error message:
"Component 'oik32.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid"
I installed this download just fine on my Windows XP SP2 Professional. Just wondering if anyone has seen this error on either operating systems? _________________ He sits and watches the ships go by on the St. Lawrence Seaway, USA |

oik32 is one of the component we register for th e image operations (from image knife - eg olympia),
you can try to go to the dos windows and do a register manually, but I dont know how Vista is handling this.
Though I am MSDN Developer I didnt get Vista final yet for checkout. |

This is what I ran into upon attempting to manually register oik32.ocx in Vista
Error message "oik32.ocx was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80040200"
I can successfully unregister it but upon re-registering you get the same error message.
What specific dll files are required to run the oik32.ocx? _________________ He sits and watches the ships go by on the St. Lawrence Seaway, USA |

Vista has a built in program which will allow you to set properties for older programs to run under conditions such as Win 98, 2000, XP SP2. I was able to set my settings to make this program work. I am very happy. Only took me a couple of weeks to figure this out when it was right in front of me (just hidden a little with all the new things that Win Vista has).

Ruben,
I set it to XP2 but also have the following:
Under "settings" I have the following checked (I'm not sure these have anything to do with my original problem).
1) Disable visual themes
2) Disable desktop composition
3) Disable display scaling on high DPI settings
Under privilege level (and I expect this was my issue due to how I'm running Vista)
I have it set to "run this program as an administrator".
Because of this last setting Vista will always ask if I am sure I want to open this program. I say yes and it has worked without issues. _________________ He sits and watches the ships go by on the St. Lawrence Seaway, USA |

Thanks working fine for me now.
However you do not have to set it, to run it as an administrator. |

I was about to ask the very same question, when i ran across your problem, wich is/was identical to mine.
And i solved it by only, running it compatible with "XP SP2".
However i have yet to really, try the game, since i only started it and shut it down, when i found it was working.
Don´t worry RDK. I will get right to it, when i restart the "Sim3dII" download wich problaby frose due to "error 40" _________________ This is my current job.

We just test several Vistas,
the first tests shows checking the Run in ADMIN modus is sufficient and absolutely necessary.
AN other solution is to open a cmd windows using admin modus,
change to c:\windows\system32
and run REGSVR32 OIK32.OCX after this you dont need to be admin anymore or set the option flag to run pocxxl.
For the 64 bit version more OCX need to be registered ,
we just finished a NEW SETUPFILE, there it will run without any change (rev 0.99.61B also for the 64 Bit version), though we recommand to use the steps from SCOTTY:
1) Disable visual themes
2) Disable desktop composition
3) Disable display scaling on high DPI settings |

Hi,
I am running Windows Vista.
I have done all the steps stated including registering the OCX.
However, when I run it, the following error pops up...
**
Run-time error '339':
Component 'MSINET.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid
**
I have also tried registering the MSINET.OCX file but it still does not work.
Thanks! |

we do install MSINET.OCX but do you have a working network connection ? (e.g. internet) or any unusual configuration.
Which network adapter do you use ?. |

I am connected to the internet via a Netgear Router. I am currently using the Nvidia nForce Networking Controller.
So, that MSINET is related to the internet connection? |
