Should there be animals in POC? Like gulls, icebears, whales, dolphins |
Yes, in real situations you also see a few animals now and then! |

It is good but put more attention at the ships and the "simulation".
These things are more important. |

Dear boy, (boat freak)
Sometimes it is better to add gull's and tree's in an early stage, it is less complicated than adding it later on.
And sim 3D II will be better! DON'T WORRY |

Gulls possibly yes.
Whales maybe.
Icebears well hope not - your too close to ice!
This is a ship sim and lets keep it this way. No full sized simulator I've used has animals and neither should this. Its the ships were interested in |

Sorry Dennis... Didn't mean to upset you.
I feel there are players who are in two camps here. Those after a realistic ship simulator and those more after a game.
I have been looking for a ship simulator for years now as the only true ones available are either full sims or way out of reach of the average wallet!!
All I want is something that gives realistic ship handling and behaviour. ie you can't just put her alongside easily. RDK appears to have done that with beginner mode to master modes which allows all players to berth safely in varying degrees of difficulty.
So onto animals - I accept they make for more interesting graphics but are they really needed? I don't mind as long as the overhead for allowing them doesn't mean a more expensive graphics card etc.
Easiest to resolve them is to have a switch to allow or disallow them and/or slider for more or less. That would satisy us both!!! _________________ A l'eau. C'est l'heure!! |

I like the last idea,
we though on a gull simulator with a flock behavior (automatic flying to ships in flocks etc.) with AI and many more, but beside we have a working gull animation now, I put it on hld as it also takes of simulation time eg frame rates,
but an admin swith can help,
pocsim3d ii is really two part - the fun and game part (we need such players ) and we also supply a museum liek installation with multi screens for people.
and the profi part which we also follow up all the time (they dont need gulls), but also theer the scenes need to look nice and real, so we have to trade of between all,
the engine is prepared to handle all of this (even a tennis player team when zooming on deck of the up comign QM2 ) using bone skinning etc and LODs to handle the speed demand,
we only need manpower to do all (and more customers helping us by getting licenses). |

I totally agree with the frame rates.
I read your 3DII manual and says 256Mb graphics card. That is pushing many old computers out of playability. My laptop has a 6600 128Mb dedicated card but it plays. so anything that slows it down that is for asthetic reasons only probably needs to be user selectable as that increases the player base. _________________ A l'eau. My current puter won't even do 3D as it is...
I wouldn't mind a few gulls and such as long as it doesn't slow the game down.
On the other hand, we don't even have gull noises in the wav file for storms in 2D, where there surely should be some.... _________________ Frohe Reise, Bearsie. |

And you want a Microsoft calculator as well
I have the power but me mouse keeps crashing when I play 3D
Feel gulls and the likes need to be user switchable as every extra is more graphic hungry.
Also I never notice the gulls when piloting in real life so I'm not bothered. What I do feel would be better is photorealistic bridges and I'm going to get camera out for RDK soon. _________________ A l'eau. C'est l'heure!! |

^^ even better, make it in black and green (or orange), and program it to display all things in blocks. Just like the old PC-monitors from WAY!!! back. _________________ Freight Containers In The Port Of Antwerp |
