Hi,

Each time you enter or leave a harbor, you see a drawing, part of the harbors RDK made. What you see is the mapx.png file in the directory harbors/maps. Nothing new I hope.

I have looked up al the real ports with Google Earth, saved the image, and with some edditing I made my own mapx.png files out of GE-Images.
In most of the screens I made exact copies of the original files, with that I mean, the layout of the harbors. In some cases I tried to duplicate the original file, in some cases even this was impossible, because the real harbor doesn't look at all like the drawings made by RDK, or as with Point Hope, no harbor could be seen (wikipedia-location).
I made a zip-file with all the harbors, but the size is 16.2 MB Crying or Very sad I have noticed that each file was about twice is large as the original file, altough the pixelsize are the same.
I would like to share my files with you, but first I need some help with the filesizes

Greetings,

The problem with the file-size is that the original pics have just a couple of colours, where yours will have 16 million. The more colours, the moer kBytes.

Yeah, now I remember.
I dont have my own website to upload them one by one like Stickymonk's ships.
I can send to anyone intrested the Google Earth's kmz file, so you can create your own pics, without searching for them Wink

It is one reason why I 'simplify' the harbor map even though I stick with the original layout, just to save pixels.
But I do splurge on the flag Very Happy

I'm also afraid that this is a copyright issue.
If I'm not mistaken Google forbid some or all use in this manner. Sad

After I reinstalled my game it will not show any, of the maps, at all. Even that I updated to the latest version, of the game. Any of you know why? Question

This is what GE say at their website: "You can personally use an image from the application (for example on your website, on a blog or in a word document) as long as you preserve the copyrights and attributions including the Google logo attribution."
Looks like it's okay to me.
I have asked GE how or what, but I'm still waiting for a reply.

Still no negative reply by GE, so I think I can go ahead with my plan.
I have remade all pictures so now the logo's and copyrights are still there.
Also I reduced the colormap to 32. Now the filesize is much lower as it was before.
I send the maps to StickyMonk, he has made a webpage special for these maps.
