|
|
Hello,
as I'm new in this PoC-thing, maybe a stupid question, but I really wanna know: "what's necessary to get the port of Antwerp in the game with the real lay-out" ? I've seen something about people adding new ports themeselves by adding a port to an XML-file ? And what do you need to get a good view on the 2d-sim ?
greetz,

Last I knew the Port of Antwerp was always in the game.
Maybe you took a wrong turn at Terneuzen and missed it? _________________ Frohe Reise, Bearsie. |

All the Harbours are done in Coral Draw, I was going to add the Port of Felixstowe and Harwich to the game but I dont have coral draw. _________________ Cheers

I know the location is in, but what I would like to see is the map of the port (but I understand these are still under construction), and in 2d/3d simulation, the actual port, not a made-up one. _________________ Freight Containers In The Port Of Antwerp |

I guess we have to depend on others to add some maps then .
At least I have finally figured out how to show the right picture of the right port in the porthole
And as a work around to this problem I reused a map of another harbor thats somewhat similar for the port of Bärenhafen, its easy enough to rename the map, although it's a somewhat klutzy solution .... _________________ Frohe Reise, Bearsie. |

Sorry, I misunderstood, thought the whole port went missing _________________ Frohe Reise, Bearsie. |

It won't help the 2D simulator, you will still get the default harbor.
But if you are tired of looking at the message: harbor under construction you can add a png file under: poc/harbors/maps that map has to be 450x280 pixel and has to have the same index number as Antwerp: mapXX.png.
furthermore you can add pictures with views of Antwerp to:
poc/harbors/image2 as: harbiXXa.jpg, harbiXXb.jpg and so on ( 320x240 pixel).
XX needs to be replaced by the real index number for Antwerp.
at least when you look out the window/porthole/bullauge you have a pleasant view
PS: you may want to save such pictures in a separate file since they will disappear in any update download ... _________________ Frohe Reise, Bearsie. |

Thanks for this extra info Bearsie. But I still wanna know if it is possible to get the correct harbour in the 2D sim. Or is the programmer of the game the only person who can implement this ? _________________ Freight Containers In The Port Of Antwerp |

Looking at it I think the actual 2D simulation is done from the atown.ply file.
I took one look at that and ran ! that is all "squiggles"
Definitely a job for RDK or one of his fellow Programmers.
so for the moment I am happy just to have the right pictures and maps show.
Since in my Coaster / Kümo / Kustvaart game 60 out of 90 euro harbors are homemeade the message: "under construction" got a bit old... _________________ Frohe Reise, Bearsie. |

when wie get a cdr file (corel draw) or a AI file (export from corel draw to Adobe ill) we can convert it to ply (currently the editor is still in heavy changing progress but we will have this public later on also),
then we can implement a hearbour rather quickly,
do setup in layers: layer 1 for harbour contours
layer 2 for all berths, all need to be constructed clockwise !!
I will have a smaple harbour ready for download if interested (colors define which is a harbour area, green area, berth etc.,)
the exporter now exports to 2d and at the same time to 3d (using mel for maya). |

So if I make the harbour in Adobe Photoshop, and export it to Adobe Illustrator (AI-file), you can get it in the game ?
That's something I don't mind spending some time on.
If you can give me a sample harbour I can check that out (maybe you can convert in into *.PSD, as I'm not sure Photoshop reads AI properly). _________________ Freight Containers In The Port Of Antwerp |

Ahhhh, I can create AI files also, I may start to look into making the Port of felixstowe and Harwich. _________________ Cheers

photoshop is a pixel paint program, I need vector data to be used.
AI is a vector program and corel draw also. |
