Hello,
I like to know how other players "play" the game???
For myself i started as beginner in 1970 and til now (1980) i have a shipping company of over 270 ships. the only problem i now faces is that the value of the company declines rapid, and i have to reorginized the company (number of ships).
When i solved the problem i hope i can play much longer.
rgrds,
Arie Zwart. |

One can play the game in a million ways. One of my ways of playing is as follows: Say start 1980 with 3 -players in ADV or EXP mode.
Player no 1 = container vessels only. Player no2: only gen cargo vessels and player no 3 only tankers. I decide that every player may buy any vessel just to begin with, but after 3 years you must get rid of the ship you started with and be running with the type of vessel you as player has been given. IE player no 3 = tankers only. I then decide that we play untill the year 2000 or maybe 2010. At 2010 you then see who has the most money and status points.
I am running a exel s/sheet that i created myself starting with the purchase price. My goal with this calculation is to see which vessel makes the best money. My measurement is $ per nautical mile.
You can pm me to discuss further into the matter. |

Ricardo is right. But I couldn't get the idea why we should divide our revenue into 2-3 companies?
Hattusas GmbH celebrated its 7th year with 4 Billion $ cash plus 39 tanker (all of them >200.000 DWT. Al Samiadoon , Front Tartar and StickyMonks vessels) , 6 Container ships (6600 Teus each), 5 Roro Ships and 3 passanger ships (Canberra 2) .. I sold many ships since the prices were too high.I didn't sell them all at a go inder not to decrease my popularity.(Year is 2000 at the moment...)
When the ship prices fall I am planning to purchase much more ships. To handle the ships I also use electronic sheets. In that sheets I keep the records of the freights I make reservation. _________________ Salih SIPAHI -- >

5 years into it I have 6 good coasters all paid off and 5 million in cash
Although I tend to lower the rates back down a bit when they make too much money.
The cement carrier only hauls cement of course, takes a bit of discipline since in the game it could as well haul bananas.
I use the ship statistic from the game to see if they make money, otherwise I shoot pretty much from the hip.
And when I feel like going on a vacation in Ballast I damm well do it.
The other game is only euro ports, this game is world wide but with coasters that have to stop twice for fuel on the way to Australia.
But it gives the crew a chance to stop for a cold one in Kapstadt _________________ Frohe Reise, Bearsie. |

I myself don't run more than one company at a time, but do ccc that company.
Each port can have only a limited number of pick-ups waiting at any time, and types available depends on what your company can carry (as well as limitations to what that port can deliver). If your company carry containers, liquids, passengers and cars, the available cargoes will be a mixture of all those.
If you can carry containers only then there will be plenty more container cargoes available.
I'm not sure what happens when there are more companies, each with it's own ccc, present...

My own playing style is to have only one company with only a few ships (half a dozen or less), in order to keep the game fluent and speed up the in-game time.
I also try to keep the small fleet up to date by replacing the ships every five years, when the on-board maintenance can't keep them above 95%, if there's a good enough, newer, ship model available.
Cheers

Just to keep the SIM going.
I have been naughty and realised that tankers cannot ship LPG & LNG.
So you have to be very disciplined regarding that.
I also refuse to transport coal in containers, and agri prod in >200000 bulk carrier and also electronics in bulkers.
When I start a game I sit down for 10 min and decide what my freight criteria would be as explained above.
Any other guidelines would be appreciated so please share in your running procedures.
Some guys share ships, harbours and freight we that cannot share that should contribute in some way.
Have a nice day and keep the swells rolling

Business arises as much as the troubles.
I have take a great risk , but all goes well at the moment.
When the ships prices were low I bought many ships (Zootiers big expensive liners and tankers).
I have 130 ships. I have a mortgage debt of 4.3 billion $. (It was 4.7 i paid 400M)
400 Milions of cash. And the values of the ships are 13.5 billion.
That makes nearly 9.5 Billion as a revenue. _________________ Salih SIPAHI -- >

I will say that "Hattusas" plays it the best way. I plays it the same way.
I also took a great risk.
I bought: 50 Finnjet, 50 Belle france and 50 Jahre viking
Norwegian Vikings celebrated its 3th year.
I have a mortgage debt of 4.8 billion $. (It was 9.5)
The values of the ships are 18.6 billion.
That makes 13.8 Billion as a revenue. _________________ Hammer |

Humm, try playing the game expert level... you'll not be able to buy 50 Jahre Vikings
Trust me the game is much more fun in expert level, beacsue in the beginning you really need to find good loads. After a couple of years the game is still fun, without the problem that you have to much money and don't know how to spend it. Try expert level, 1980, 8 companies...
