I know, that i vote, for large tankers, but I also would like to see some more Tankers, that can pass the Panama Canal. If iI remember correct, there is a tanker about 60000 tons, that can pass the Panama Canal, but there is only about 2 of theme in the game, and I dont think thats enough. _________________ Poc is a lifestyle |

I , of course, voted for the large container ships.
I could also have done the : NONE..... option, but you know you HAVE to do that. _________________ Freight Containers In The Port Of Antwerp |

The bearovian flagged tanker Hardanger Vidda of 75 000 tdw is about the only "large" tanker that will fit the Panama canal, so maybe a few more in that size range? _________________ Frohe Reise, Bearsie. |

HI Bearsie. Maybe I should take a new look, at your site, and try to find that tanker. _________________ Poc is a lifestyle |

hi stickymonk,
i suggest the following: do the wished ships (needn't to be very lots)
and do the topviews from time to time.
so it won't get boring.

Any type of ships constructed after year 2000 and just below panamax in size are good.
The newer ships in the game are almost exclusively either too small to be useful or post panamax.

Personally, I like the older ships. If I ever learn to do these ships, I want to do steamships from the early 1900's up to 1940. That is when a ship, really looked like a ship. _________________ A ship in port is safe, but that's not what ships are built for. |

I don't know if there is much interest here for this type of ship, but this one was a cargo vessel built on the Clyde River in Scotland in 1879. It is called "Waterloo".
Would this type of drawing work on POC?? _________________ A ship in port is safe, but that's not what ships are built for. |

Of course there is interest, Stickymonk has the "Waverley" and I have all sorts of "oldish" and "smallish" vessels on my site and actually a lot more on my computer
In short the 3 main "builders" of vessels for the game are a bit spezialised in different directions, I tend to have older and smaller, Stickymonk has a lot of BIG bulkers and container vessels, Zootier has plenty of big Passenger vehicles and RoRo and such
So there are ships for all tastes.
An Oldie "Shipyard" would be a great addition I think _________________ Frohe Reise, Bearsie. |

These are the stats I have on the Waterloo:
Iron Well-Deck Steamer
Built 1879
Builder: London & Glasgow Shipbuilding & Engineering Co
Length: 254.4'
Beam: 33.1'
Draft: 18.7'
GRT: 1,283
Engine: 2-Cylinder Compound Engine (26", 54"-36")
Boiler: Double ended with 90 lbs. pressure (pre Scotch Boiler)
Auxillary: Donkey Boiler with 80lbs. pressure
Owner: Allan C. Gow & Co, (percusor of Glen Line)
Sails assisted in compensating for the high fuel consumption.
Perhaps I should add the sails to the picture?? _________________ A ship in port is safe, but that's not what ships are built for. |

Bearslie,
Thanks very much for doing that and for sending me a few of your older vessels. They look great. I have looked at your website quite a bit before I started posting here, along with Zootier's and a few others. Some great looking ships there!!
I wouldn't mind putting together an old shipyard, but I am still trying to figure out how to do these things. I think I need a little more practice first.

I got the dimensions almost right just guessing
Fuel consumption is tricky, I usually base it on horsepower and comparisons. Since I don't know her horse power perhaps some fiddling
with the fuel consumption % is needed, and of course we don't have coal in the game either.
Bearovian engineers have a rather scientific method to arrive at these numbers, holding their left thumb straight up, one eye closed peeking into a waning moon and Voila!!! The magic number appears
Sails would look awesome _________________ Frohe Reise, Bearsie. |
