Repair time

I think, that there is something wrong, with the repeairing time. I think, that it sounds wrong, that time of repairing a small coaster, is the same,as it is for Postpanamax ships. If you have a small coaster, it will take a day, pr. procent, and the same for the big container ships, and tankers,

What do you think? Question

I'd agree, although it still takes time but it wouldnt take the same time...

do you have any values from really to compare with and adjust our values.
A larg eship of cousre might take longer, but with a larger dwarf it might have more man power to be repaired.

the repair time depends on the kind of repair,kind of vessel,how big the shipyard is,in which part of the world it is....and so on! i have a nice exampel:we made with our vessel a complete engine check after the five year class period.the took the most parts of the engine ashore.both vessels had a wärtsila engine with abt. 2500 kw.with one vessel we needed 4 days at the sietas shipyard in hamburg,the other vessel needed abt 2 weeks in klaipeda in the baltic states.both engines were in abt. similar conditions.the company wanted to save money.the end of the story was,we had with the klaipeda repaired engine after 4 weeks an engine breakdown on the norwegian coast and were towed to the port,it was not so nice for my nerves close to the rocks drifting.....the fault was on shipyards side with a wrong repaired valve in the main engine!!!
generally you can say,the owners want the pepairs a cheap and as soon as possible.a vessel in the shipyard is loosing and not earning money.

The owners should have stuck with Sietas...
There also used to be engine repair directly at the MaK pier in Kiel, is that still available? Or is it a thing of the past?

currently the repair cost is calculated from the current ship price and the difference (condition is in percentage therefor) to get it up to date (not new but current).

as far as i know is no repair jetty for MaK in kiel,even the MAN berth in hamburg is closed.brgds mooringman

J. J. Sietas is repairing ships at the Norderwerft in the Reiherstieg ( former Bartels + Lüders )

MAN jetty is still busy in Hamburg (currently 2 ferries for engine repairs berthed)

i know abt. sietas,they use the norderwerft for all kind of repairs.i was already there.but i'm surprised abt. MAN,i thought they don't use hamburg anymore.i was 1977 for a big engine repair on the old MAN jetty close to former "deutsche werft".brgds mooringman
