Some Minutes ago I had to Rescue some Persons in a Boat. But my Ship was to slowly (at 22,6 kn!) to catch the boat! I "Give up" because I had no chance to catch them. This costs me 5 of my status points!
It seems to be a bug.
Greats

it depends, - but I will check this - the speed of the boat is determined by the wind - so might be higher than the max speed of the rescue ship, but in this case I would say the status points should not be lost.- |

An "Rescue Island" without a engine faster than a Ship with an engine? It would be possible if the ship is not possible to correct the course in an accourate time.
Is it possible that the speed of the rescue boat depends on the CPU-Speed? |

It happens quit a lot. We've had an earlier thread about this. When the raft is going very fast, it's also hard to rescue them, as you have to have almost the same speed and direction, otherwise the poor people will get hurt. I think there should be a maximum of raft speed of about 8 knots or something. _________________ Freight Containers In The Port Of Antwerp |

i think that is a good work to recue someone.
you shouldn't loose statuspoints when you faile in case of giving up
(making the rescueboat sinking is another point), but get some points if you make it

The rule of the sea means you should rescue them and make all best endevours to do so.
So giving up immediately should be penalised
If one makes best endevours then no penalty
If one saves them then award given _________________ A l'eau. C'est l'heure!! |

ok i agree with you.
but then rdk should have a smaller area where yo uhave to rescue them.
to sail and sail .... behind them and finally give up and loose status is not
fun. but if you try to recue and they sail out of the area, you get no
penalty.

And so it comes
Last night had I exactly this situation: The rescue raft was faster than my ship (24.9kts) and I had to give up after some time. That cost me 5 points of status.
Its not funny _________________ Seefahrt ist Not (Gorch Fock) |

Surely they have no seafaring experiance otherwise they would have deployed their sea anchor !!!
Seems that the liferaft doesn't have anything to slow it down which is also not true when it comes to liferaft design _________________ A l'eau. C'est l'heure!! |

In my opinion, if the wind affects the raft speed, which is logical, it should also affect the ship speed, although not in the same way.
