				| If I remember cirrect, there was some sisterships, to Unit Scan. Named Unit Scan Tor Scan Hermes Scan, and Hercules Scan, but I also think there was a Freja Scan. All these ships belonged, to a Danish shipping company by the name, of blæsbjerg line, or something like that.
 back in the 1970's.

so it looks like this : <dwt>1278</dwt>

At 185 % she looks a bit like a fuel guzzler?

				| Hello Zootier. Ive seen your version, of Unit Scan, and I think that your work is also very nice. I dont think I can tell you wich one is the best, Bearsie's, or Zootier's. So dont let me choose between them. _________________

Maybe you are right, i don´t know!

But i think such a small engine couldnt be as effectiv as a big engine in a big ship and they are around 150 to 170 in the game.
So i have taken higher value for the fuel consumption.

				| The whole fuel consumption issue in the game is an unqualified mess! I suspect this is because the original formula programmed into the game is too complicated. Even original ships in the game are all over the lot!
From way too low to extremely high

Diesel engines in general use between 150 to 200 grams/KW/hour, period.
Very old Diesels (pre 1940) use a bit more, around 230 grams.
There is a slight difference between 2 cycle and 4 cycle, but the main difference is if the engine uses Diesel or heavy fuel oil, which has different
energy value per gram in BTU (english) or KJ (metric?)

basic write up to be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Specific_fuel_consumption

A while back we had this discussion ( but I can't seem to find the thead now) Either Mooringmann or Hoeftmann gave consumption figures of
 coasters he worked on.

Neither speed, size or shape of the ship affect specific consumption.
The only thing that matters from a calculation point of view is the DEVELOPED Horse Power!
And there is half the trick, the HP/KW given for a ship of any size is the "rated" HP/KW at the rated top speed presumably.
so, really all we should need to do in the game is to fine tune consumption between say 90% and 110%
That we have to go as high as 185 % to make it come out shows that the basic formula in the game is seriously flawed.
An example is a bulbous bow, it improves "efficency" by around 10 to 15 %, a bit by better flow charachteristics but mainly simply by making the hull longer. This can be used to either save fuel or run faster.
However it does NOT affect specific consumption!
It simply lowers demand for HP/KW "developed", or needed for a certain speed at a certain draft.
That is why we see one 1000 ton ship @ 10 knots with 600kw and perhaps 2 ton fuel a day and another one with twice the HP/KW (1200 kw) @ 13.5 knots and 4 tons a day. Steam of course is a different ball of wax and there we would have to go to a higher % to make it come out.

I try to find numbers directly for a given ship from the builders where I can, since the formula in the game does not seem to work properly.
My point is simply that we shouldn't have to do this.
The only caveat would be when a builder gives a rated horse power and "service speed" instead of top speed, since service speed is usually not achieved at rated Horsepower but at quite a bit less, usually between 80 to 90 % of rated. in such cases we would be showing a somewhat higher consumption than we are actually using.

The easy way would be for us to rent these ships for a day, do a test run and insert the real value

				| Here are spec's for a brand new freighter of 8500 tons with a nice MAK engine
 http://www.maritimeequipment.com/ShowAd.aspx?id=101660

Consumption varies between 10 and 13 tons based on either 80 % or 100 % of rated output.
