First of all thanks for this great game! I'm a relative newbie for the game and I recently imported some new goods and harbours.
But with the trucks, the 'protect ships from overloading' function doesn't seem to work. It just loads up to the max. number of trailers alltough trucks are much heavier.
For The Larissa K ship it takes 1200 trucks, but then it's WAY overladed and the ship will sink easily.

Any way to prevent this?

Another question: is there a ship that can hold more trucks than the Larissa K?

yes, but not in the game itself, you have to download the user made additional ships.

As Stickymonk says this is covered in the User add on forum

But to make it simple: trucks = trailers code 21 are 22 ton.
cars code 20 = campers are 2.2 ton
Larissa K is therefore only good for about 100 trucks.
You will have to change that value in the xml file
goods like Mafi are on my website, ro ro ships ( with truck capacity rated at 22 tons) are on several user add on websites:
