Agreed, besides in container traffic it's only these goods: Red box, green box, blue box, yellow box, polka dot box
Too many goods will not only clutter up the freight market screen, but actually slow the game down... _________________ Frohe Reise, Bearsie. |

Hello, can anyone please send me the files with as many ports as possible. I'm new to this, and don't feel safe to poke around in files. Just "replacement files" would be welcomed with great hooray!

Over at Zootiers, all you have to do, is download the zip files for the harbors, then copy/paste them in your PoC folder that would be X:\Program Files\poc\pocxxl\user_addons\harbors ,where "X" is your drive letter where the game has been installed to.
Same would be for the goods, just change the 'harbors' to 'goods'.
Someone had also created two zip files that they had with goods and harbors to be added in the user_addons folders. I just can't remember when I seen that. It was with Asian harbors.
Personally, I have not installed all the harbors that have been made not yet at least.
Here are a couple of sites you can try:
Zootiers:
http://www.zootierspocshipyard.de.vu/
BigBear's
http://poc.bigbear.de/ Please note that this site has not been updated for some time. So the details that are there, are not 'current' anymore, for how to add the goods and the harbours (even though it would still work).
Stickymonk's:
http://www.stickymonk.co.uk/]http://www.stickymonk.co.uk/
Those should be enough to get you started I hope that helps you.
If you are going to use harbors from Bigbear's site, a simple way to create your own files to be compatible would be the following:
Choose your language, then click on change. Open notepad. Copy the harbor details, make sure to include everything between "<town> </town> then save as an XML file.
Here is an example from his site:
Code: | <town>
<index>000</index>
<name>Burnie</name>
<land>Australia</land>
<einwohner>18064</einwohner>
<landwaehrung_name>AUD</landwaehrung_name>
<kurs_auf_dollar_bezogen>1.27776</kurs_auf_dollar_bezogen>
<x>1457</x>
<y>411</y>
<einkommensteuer>70</einkommensteuer>
<kriegsrisiko>0</kriegsrisiko>
<HafenArbeiterStreik>5</HafenArbeiterStreik>
<SchlepperStreik>15</SchlepperStreik>
<prozwirksam>59</prozwirksam>
<treibstoffpreis>180</treibstoffpreis>
<bildinfostadtnummer>-</bildinfostadtnummer>
<fracht>Passenger,70,Agric. Products,80,Fish,100,Paper,100,Foods,70,Machinery,100,empty Containers,90,Titanium Slag,100</fracht>
<klippenrisiko>2</klippenrisiko>
<piratenrisiko>0</piratenrisiko>
<kollisionsrisiko>3</kollisionsrisiko>
<seuchenrisiko>0</seuchenrisiko>
<schlepperkosten>4000</schlepperkosten>
<ortswartezeit>1</ortswartezeit>
<schmuggelda>5</schmuggelda>
<schmuggelart>0</schmuggelart>
<zollgefahr>55</zollgefahr>
<nebel>10</nebel>
<repda>0</repda>
<anzfracht>18</anzfracht>
<hafentyp>p,q,y,g,c,r,b,t,a</hafentyp>
<kontinent>Australia</kontinent>
</town> |
Now, when you are going to save it, click on 'file->save as' then navigate to the folder where you want to save it. Then in the 'file name:' type for example 'Burnie.xml'. The 'xml' at the end is important. Where it says "Save as type' select 'all files'.
Now that you have saved it, find this line Code: | <bildinfostadtnummer>-</bildinfostadtnummer> |
Now change that to:
Code: | <bildinfostadtnummer>Burnie.png</bildinfostadtnummer> |
Now click on file save. You can close notepad now.
Now right click on the map and when it prompts you where to save it, put it in the same folder as your xml file, and rename the image to 'Burnie.png'. If you are using I.E., it might want to save it as a bmp... just use firefox 2+ or netscape 9+... it will make things much easier.
Now for the harbor pictures, the procedure is the same, except, in our case this would be 'Burnie_harbi0a.jpg' for the 1st pic, and then just increase the alphabet letters with each picture. So the second would be 'Burnie_harbi0b.jpg'. If there were more pictures, you would then go to 'c', 'd' etc...
I hope that helps you enjoy the game and give you an insight on how to add harbours to your game. |

Thank you very much, I cannot emphasize how grateful I am for your help.
But given that, I have encountered a new problem. After adding several ports, using the procedure described in the beginning of your post, using the Zootiers page, I'm getting a message indicating that some goods for some ports are missing.
I surfed Zootiers page (and I can't German, so this is quite a challenge) and found some, if not all goods on his page. Goods such as "fruit juice, zink etc etc"
And below the goods, there is this code of some type. As far as my German tells me, I'm supposed to copy this code and add it somewhere, but I'm not quite sure where. And how?
Your help would be much appreciated.

hello Eyðbjørn,
It seems that you may have visited his site previously, before he had updated it. What this means, is that you have not cleared the cache of your browser. I would recomend you doing that 1st before proceding.
His goods now have the name and a picture, of which when you click on it, it should prompt you to save it on your hard drive.
If after you clean your browsers cache, you still can not veiw the page, then it would be an issue of your ISP using cache on there server... I wonder why they would still use that old technique.
Anyway, here is the direct link to Zootiers goods page.
http://civictyper.hamburg-hondaz.de/PoC/Gueter/gueter_neu.htm.
Please remember that you will need to be using his website from his main page, since that way, when he changes a page or renames it, you will not be receivng the older one.
Now once you download the item, you just unzip it and put the items in the goods folder.
he has the items in both German and English, and where it is common to both languages... well he left it with one only
Hope that helps. |
