This issue was around when I first encountered XXL several years ago, and after being away from PoC for over a year, I still find it remaining in version 1.00.04!
The issue is of course the 2D sim "feature" that your ships mysteriously do a 180 degree turn while parked in the harbour. (You steer by hand into the harbour, parking at the dock. When you then come to take the ship out manually after reloading, it will face in the opposite direction to how you left it.)
Cheers

If that location wasn't saved in any way it could just as easily take off from a completely different location, right?
To me it seems like the ship is directed into the same spot, facing the same direction, every time I enter the same harbour. (Differs between ships of different size and type though.)
If that observation is correct it shouldn't be too hard to make the ship's "parking lot" face the same way on both inbound and outbound traffic.
Cheers
