Idea
Arrow The charter for Liners is really annoying right now. What about a different Chartering System for Liners, where you can offer Cruises and where you can create offers for your ships. Then I would consider it the best to combine it with some new marketing options, thus that you have to choose a marketing budget in order to recieve travellers for your tour. I have a concret vision of that: You can target different market sectors like Youngs, Middles, Execs, Vips and have to adjust your promotion spenditure and channel to the ship and offered service there. The affort you have to put in could also be dependend on your status.
Arrow In addition, there could be these Passengers offered...
Arrow Also, I would consider some RORO ferry Lines which can be served and do not have to be managed manually.

What do you mean about that?

Affirmative, the current system is not optimal. It works like a mixture of ferry business conducted on a tramp base. Creating offers/cruises, and setting levels of service on these could add value. It is not as urgent as the new ( Razz ) 2d-sim, though...

I think that this needs to be clarified. In the real world, a liner trade has nothing to do with passenger ships or ferries. A liner service is a regularly scheduled cargo service, one since the early 1970's that involves container ships for the most part.

Passenger Liner services have been extinct since about 1970 - the jet age spelling its doom. This is distinct from ferry services which are of course still running, but on very short routes.

Therefore, there are two distinct cargo services. One is the tramp or chart trade, which is reasonably accurately portrayed in the game. The other is liner services which are currently not be covered. With few exceptions, container ships are employed strictly in the liner trades only.

Yes, for liners there should be a different charter system than for cargo ships, but this is not a new suggestion/idea - it was discussed before.

Great ideas! You do not have a tramp passenger market out there in the real world, at least not for hundreds of pasengers! A marketing/advertising system is indeed what we need, also the possibility to establish real line services.

Remark: the fuel consuption of the "France" is wrong. With the given propulsion system she consumes a much as indicated, by runs only 20 kts. The original France had 160.000 hp, sailed 31 kts and consumed some 700 to 800 tons a day!

there is a definite market for roro ferries from e.g. the continent to UK/Ireland and around the Baltic, this is another area that could be exploited within the game.
