does someone have all .xml files and .zip files with all ships, harbours, cargo's i.e.?
it takes forever to add one and one...
could bee possible to make .cmd files that both add text to .xml files and copy pictures to right place, this is easy by making placeholders in the .cmd file...
just an idee for us lazy shipbrookers, that just want to earn money.... lol |

None of that is present atm.
RDK is working on a system that can auto-add an add-on from a website to the game, and in such a way that they don't have to be re-added when the game is updated (like is needed now). _________________ Freight Containers In The Port Of Antwerp |

! and they can be keep seperate !
Important for this start using a naming onvention for the xml files (and the images), like <typeofxml>_:<author>_<shipname>.xml etc, for examplle ship_rdk_newship.xml
also be carfuly naming ships (habours and freights) to have distinguished names, I will search for names in a saved gamefile to map them back to the user added ships.
Still little bit work on this before the update contains it, buts progressing. |

@RDK, if you use a saved gamefile, will it then also copy the ships/harbours/goods that are in the usermade file, but not currently in use in the game (like ships that haven't been bought, or have future dates etc)? _________________ Freight Containers In The Port Of Antwerp |

I didnt thought on this, but that might make sense, the only problem ist that I also have to copy images, and the xml does not support this or gets very large -- |

Why don't you make a script that backups all existing files, updates the program and re-adds the files to the different folders?
That way you can also make sure that people who have DELETED harbours/ships/goods from the original xml files don't have to delete them again. _________________ Freight Containers In The Port Of Antwerp |

an other idea is to use a new name in the upcoming update and check differences, automatically extract the difference to new files, inn the new adoon folder.
as said we will have a change in the xml file, and so I can make that automatic with all user addons also.
(The xml file can be used in the sim3dii for ships definitions thats the reason we change (there its call .rx2 - see addon folder in the new version) |

Excellent...
I don't know about flash programming, but in VB/vb-script it should be possible to make a select box, where users had the possiblity to choose the ships/harbours/goods, they wanted in that game...
just an idee, that it could bee some standard ships, then you could get in to KARA and choose a ship you would have them to built, then, the next year or so, it would appair as a ship to buy...
Possible you would have to pay a deposite for the ship to get a ship built..
it would be near like real world...
next you could add an feature to ask for prizes on new builds define specs, and add some shipyards to make the ships, this could give you a prize for the building of the ship, and another shipyard (played by computer or other gamer) could give a better prize... competition...
hmmm... proberly in version 2.... lol...
but really fun....
best regards |

It would be nice to be able to chose the origonal ports in the game as when I play using the 2d sim I have to remove all the add on ports as I get fed up of doing the same port map......
Of course when we can make our own 2d port maps that will be intresting _________________ Cheers

You could always look for a "similar" 2D harbor, make a copy of the ply file with the new name and add it.
While not ideal it will at least avoid running the same default harbor scene. _________________ Frohe Reise, Bearsie. |
