Looks as we find a good solution to further develop poc XXL ... we will try to move it to PYTHON plus QT4/5 --- as I use this combination for several industrial projects I work on it seems to be a real enhancement and better than any special solutions like Unity (new license I dont like) or other 3D platforms. For POC XXL 2D is suffizient in the first step and can be combined with POC SIM3DII in the current version if necessay.
A python environment also makes if platform independend so it works in Linux (also Raspberry), Mac and PC of course. I tested also the python to EXE compiler which is very stable so a easy installation for PC users is also available.

Hello Mr. Klein,

I am happy, that the PoC development will continue!
I was already thinking that the project was completely abandoned.

Best regards

If this comes off and a new version of POC becomes available this will be a good thing.

One thing I would say is a new licence should be required for the new game as it will be a new game not an add on. I am not a fan of a life time licence.

Would the new version be a ground up new game? I know little to nothing about programming language and after reading the wiki page on PYTHON it might as well be in Russian.
Will there be the option for customisation with the ability to add new ships/harbours?

Oh and have you considered doing a version for Xbox one?

Xbox is still an option question -- last time there were obstacles from microsoft I had the xbox developer kit already --- have t check it again . No new license is necessary...

I think Xbox would be a good move, I have recently switched from farming simulator on PC to Xbox, as I get older I prefer to sit on a sofa and look at a 60" TV than my laptops 17" screen...

But I really think if it is a ground up new game a new licence should be required, I can't think of another game that would give you a free new game if you purchased one years ago. Maybe slightly less money though.

edit: just noticed lots of mistakes (auto-correct on phone is a pain!)

I totally agree with you!
Back then I found rdkleins lifetime licence a nice move.
But for sustainable development of a game it was definately
not a good decision.

I am quite indifferent to an xbox version, as i have none.
But at least for the 3d sim it would surely be a good thing.

Anyway i strongly look forward to news.
I hunger for playing manically again.
But 800x600 resolution looks a bit odd with todays screen resolutions Wink

Have a nice, sunny weekend everyone!

Christian

Could I make an observation, if you want to gain interest in developing and selling a game would it not be wise to keep the paying customers informed? 5 months since the update announcement and silence.
